The world's first rope-free elevator

A more than 160-year-old multi-billion industry is facing possible changes. Successful tests from Swabia are making this possible. Here, there is a 246-metre-high test facility, in which the lifts of the thyssenkrupp company are tested. Now, the world's first rope-free elevator is causing quite a stir and creating new impulses on a so far conventionally operated, multi-billion lift market.

Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar, Mahasseb Il-Sayyidah (The happy ones from Sayyidah)
The exhibition shows by way of numerous, previously unknown pieces of art and historical testimonies from 1938 to 1948, how the often provocative, always poetic, subversive and anarchistic surrealism movement, also from Cairo, stood up against political oppression and for a liberal view of humankind. More than 200 items on loan from approximately 50 collections in twelve countries, including paintings and graphics, photographs, films, books and documents. Until 15 October 2017.
