Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar, Mahasseb Il-Sayyidah (The happy ones from Sayyidah)
The exhibition shows by way of numerous, previously unknown pieces of art and historical testimonies from 1938 to 1948, how the often provocative, always poetic, subversive and anarchistic surrealism movement, also from Cairo, stood up against political oppression and for a liberal view of humankind. More than 200 items on loan from approximately 50 collections in twelve countries, including paintings and graphics, photographs, films, books and documents. Until 15 October 2017.
