Schunk Carbon Technology - Additive Manufacturing with Ceramics
IntrinSiC® in detail
Picture: Schunk Carbon Technology
With IntrinSiC® we are redefining the dimensions for 3D Printing: for the first time ceramic components, made of silicon carbide (RBSiC), which is nearly as hard as diamonds, can be made using 3D printing. This was previously not feasible due to the size and complexity of the components as well as quality requirements. That offers new freedom in designing and engineering – for example, it makes it possible to realize undercuts and cavities, geometries can be easily changed by a mouse click and the time-consuming production of casting molds can be eliminated altogether. All this enables complex structures which are more efficient while providing improved NOX levels. The used RBSiC material stands out for its thermal shock resistance, high degree of oxidation and corrosion resilience, high bending strength and creep resistance as well as for its low density.
You benefit from these advantages:
Innovative solution: Ceramic components using 3D printing
Even large, monolithic and complex geometries possible
High process and design flexibility
Short production lead times and delivery times
No casting moulds required - immediate component production using CAD data
Almost diamond-hard material with immediately polishable surfaces
Typical IntrinSiC ® applications within thermal process technology are recuperative burners, U-bend-tubes, inside-contoured radiant tubes, complex burner nozzle geometries and spacers for indirect heating.
