GIFA, the International Foundry Trade Fair and Technical Forum, has been the heart of the foundry industry for decades and with more than 970 exhibitors is bigger than ever before.

„Stahl fliegt“ is a tradional competition, founded by „Forschungsvereinigung Stahl“ located in Düsseldorf 19 years ago. It highlights the bright world of metals and demonstrates "steel" with its best features.
The winners of the competition „Stahl fliegt“: David Kemper, Christian Lipp and Alexander Kubsch, Universität Darmstadt. They also won the price of innovations.
The ecoMetals campaign with the ecoMetals Trails. Sustainability, resource conservation, and energy efficiency are some of the current trends in the energy-intensive foundry and metallurgy industries and are important aspects for investments.
Therefore, this year’s edition of GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST will once more include the ecoMetals Trails, guided tours on the complex issues surrounding sustainability.
The annual international press conference of SMS Group takes place at GMTN for the first time. Therefore the company created a special location: The Digital Campus.

5th NEWCAST Awards: The three prize-winners herald from Germany and Hong-Kong: Impro International Ltd (Hongkong), DGH Sand Casting Corporate GmbH & Co. KG (Friedrichshafen) und Feinguss Blank GmbH (Riedlingen).
With the support of the jury of the Confederation of the German Foundry Industry, the winners were chosen in the run-up to the trade fair in the following three categories: The best substitution for a different manufacturing procedure, the cast part with the best integration of functions and he best lightweight construction solution.
Volker Ritzel (Sales Manager Impro Deutschland GmbH) and Kailiang Chen (Managing Director Impro Europe SARL & Impro Deutschland GmbH) could be really happy, because they took part for the first time and tried to win all three categories. Their courage and their strategy paid off. Congratulations for category one the substitution award! Both mentioned their motivated employess and thanked all of them.
During the GMTN setup we took a look at several halls and exhibitors.

Located in hall 4 at METEC we look behind the scenes of EJP. EJP is known for tailor-made production systems for the production of wire, bars, tubes and profiles.
